MacOS Mail.app Gmail API integration

So companies who have their enterprise mail addresses on Gmail might chose to disable all POP/POP3/IMAP access to the users mailboxes. Instead they might rely on gmail in browser for that.

GMail offers API integration for email receiving/viewing/sending, basically implementing IMAP functionality but using REST API.

Is there any chance for Apple to develop a Gmail API integration in their Mail.App to use these enterprise email services using the standard Mail.app from MacOS ?

Right now users are forced to rely on other solutions like Sparkmail or Mimestream to access their gmail account. These are great but we get another level of clutter for mail clients.

Gmail in web browser is atrocious and I don't like to use mail in browser because of the poor notification implementation (no unread badges) in Arc Browser (or any other for that matter).

Does anybody have a clue about this ? I've already asked for a feature request but those go to Santa as a letter and they only get implemented if many of us are good boys or girls....
