finding an external Network interface device compatible with Monterey OS

I have an older (circa 2015) MacBook that will no longer connect to the network connection point in my home. I live in a community with internet provided via a network with a host of access points, and I am able to access the network just about everywhere else on campus other than my house. Our network administrator (a pretty sharp guy) tells me its a problem with older MACs getting confused when confronted with a cluster of access points, which pretty well describes my home location. His solution was to get an external NIC, but I can't find one compatible with the Monterey OS. I stream TV from my home, can connect to the network with other computers from my home, so I am beginning to believe our network guy when he tells me its not the access point in my house. Anyone know of a Monterey compatible external network device?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.7

There is no inherent reason why your Mac Wi-Fi should get confused by a cluster of access points -- that is the typical situation into which these Macs were deployed, and they work without issue for tens of thousands of users.

You should be able to get a connection if you bring your Mac very close the the access point. But of course you will have to enter the WiFi password correctly.

You may her better luck deleting all "known" networks, then re-acquiring your network and re-entering the correct password.
