Changed PDF files since latest update

Since updating my MacBook Air yesterday to Sequoia Version 15.2 some of my PDF files are now blurred white text on black and images are unreadable. I was working with these files before I did the update and everything was fine. These files were downloaded from archive.org and took me hours and hours to find and download because they are from obscure art books printed anywhere from 1804 to 1900, and now they are all useless.

Is there a fix for this?

Have you installed and run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps on your Mac?

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

By the way I've been unable to duplicate your problem with a Mac Mini running Sequoia 15.2.

0 - had had exact same blurry effect as pictured

1 - migrated Xmas day from 12" MacLap to Pro M4 (doesn't have to be Xmas day BTW)

2 - 12" included Firefox already

3 - opened blurry PDF on M4 with Firefox - looks fine

4 - used print function Save to PDF - can take quite a few minutes

5- opened the newly added PDF file with Macos Preview this time - looks fine - new file is a few 100 MBs

Hope this helps!
