Transfering data to Mac: error code -43

I am trying to transfer data from my old PC to my new Mac. I tried to use Migration Assistant but it keeps failing. I transferred some documents to an external disk, then used an adapter from USB-A to USB-C. When I try to drag and drop the folders I want into my desktop, it says "Error code -43". I have used First Aid on my disk and it didn't help. Any suggestion as to why this might be happening and how to fix it?

-43 is a generic error you sometimes get when the Finder is trying to copy a lot of files.

You could try copying the files in smaller batches, or with the aid of a backup utility like Carbon Copy Cloner (which can do selective folder copies, and might be more reliable than the Finder when there are large numbers of files to be copied).

As for the Migration Assistant failures, I don’t know why those would happen.
