No notifications when phone is locked

Hi there,

It looks like I'm not the only one who has this problem, since years it appears here in the community.

Since the IOS 18.1 update I don't receive any notification when my phone is locked.

No messages, no sounds, no vibrating.

I do receive phone calls with sound and vibrating.

The only notifications that I receive are missed calls, missed calls with Whatsapp and iMessages.

All other apps are not showing notifications when my screen is unlocked.

I've tried all solutions which are offered here and in general on the internet but none of it seems to work.

Updated all notifications for each app, changed focusses, disabled bluetooth, disabled planned notifications, updated all apps and IOS, don't own a connected watch so this can't be the problem either.

When unlocking my phone I receive badges for my emails but this is the only app that does it. For like example Whatsapp, LinkedIn,... I have to open the app before I can see if I have notifications, while all notifications are turned on.

I own an iPhone 13.

Can someone PLEASE help me?

And what about LinkedIn? Because this app has the same problems...

Thank you so much for all your help, it makes it all more clear and makes me feel a little less dumb as I think I was :-)

Apple doesn't own LinkedIn either. Most of these apps just haven't been optimized correctly for iOS 18.x.x Nothing Apple can do about any 3rd party app.

Do NOT think you're dumb. Most people are under the impression if something doesn't work as expected on their phone, Apple must be 100% responsible. That would be true if it was an Apple owned App. It's not true if Apple doesn't own the app.

With focus on, you won't get most notifications when the phone is locked. Learn more about Focus here --> Set up a Focus on iPhone - Apple Support

I only use focus on my iPhone from 11 PM to 7 AM. I don't want my phone to notify me of anything (other than those who are in my favorites, who can get past focus) like regular notifications when I sleep at night.

No need to send me a video. You're having issues with 3rd party apps, none of which are owned by Apple. You'll need to reach out to the App developer for Messenger and Instagram, which by the way are BOTH from Meta, which also by the way, has had a LOT of issues with their apps lately. Meta has of late, released sloppy updates to their apps. Apple has NO control over them.

I understand, but that is why I've changed my focus to personal, without any restrictions, but it only works for a part.

Settings for 'personal focus' don't have any restrictions for all apps or contacts on my phone.

I've asked a person to send me a message at iMessage, Whatsapp, Messenger and Instagram.

I do receive a notification for iMessage and Whatsapp but not for Messenger nor Instagram.

Can I send you a video where you can see what's going on? It seems I only can add pictures...
