Camera issues in iPhone 16 Pro after iOS 18.2 update

My wife has a iPhone 16 Pro and recently the camera starts slow, and then becomes black totally. We searched Internet and followed suggestions to upgrade to the latest IOS 18.2, it worked one day, and now the problem came back again. By restarting the phone, it fixes the issue temporally, but don't know when will it be back again.

Hey, I have good news for you! I’ve discovered a solution for this issue, and it’s actually very easy. The problem is related to iOS, but you can fix it by making some changes in the camera settings.

Here’s what you need to do:

1. Go to Settings > Camera > Preserve Settings.

2. Turn off all the options that preserve settings.

3. (Optional) Turn off Macro Control as well.

This solution worked for me, and I hope it works for you too.

All the best!😀

Sorry, my title "Camera still start slow or even freeze after 18.2" is a little misleading, but I was really meant to say "even after 18.2", it is still has the problem. The iPhone had the problem when we were at 18.1, then we upgraded it to 18.2 and hoping it will fix it. But the problem still persist.

A slightly good news is that it has been normal for the whole day today. One thing could be the the cause is the whether condition. As when the problem happened, we were outside, the whether was 25 F. We will try it again next time when whether gets colder to see if this is the cause.

Are you experiencing the lag and black screen issues in the Apple Camera app or third party apps like TikTok, Snapchat or Instagram?

It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution!

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.

My iPhone 16 Pro Max takes excellent photo. I’ve had iPhone 11,12, 13, 14, 15, all Pro Max’s and the 16 PM is my favorite over all those.
