in the Apple Workout App GPS has stopped work during Outdoor Cycling. GPS worked well for years on this watch.

Do other workouts, for example Outdoor Walking, show the GPS route?
Did you try to force restart your watch by pressing and holding the Digital Crown and the Side button together for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again?
If force restarting the watch does not bring back the GPS, unpairing the watch would be the next step:

Outdoor Walk does display distance. I have;
deleted App and reloaded
erased and reset my Apple Watch
Yesterday it started working (distance & avg speed) during the last 4 miles of my ride. Today not at all, no avg speed or distance. The watch is a series 4 and I have used the Workout gps for years. Never had trouble until now.

Yes, I have a cellular Watch, and no I have never carried my phone walking or cycling. I receive and sometimes answer calls and texts on my watch while walking and cycling.
