Monterey OS continued support

I just noticed that Apple will no longer support Monterey OS. Does Apple not know how many computers are in use by the public that use Monterey OS? I bought an expensive iMac 7i intel chip with 16 gig memory and it is still working very good. I can run excel, word, and other Apple apps just as well. I don’t need the latest updates just security updates. I wouldn’t think that your geniuses could do that very easily for us older folks living on our social security and can’t really afford all the expensive new machines.

Apple no longer updates features in anything older than Ventura.

While Apple makes no guarantees about support for anything except the current and previous two OS versions, in practice they appear to provide security updates for another 2-3 years after ceasing support for an older OS. In fact, I have seen OS versions as old as Snow Leopard get XProtect Updates within the past couple of months.

I assume you have a 2015 iMac17,1 model with the optional 4GHz i7 upgrade processor - as that is the only i7 iMac model that maxes out on macOS 12 Monterey. If not and you have any newer model, then you should be able to update further to at least Ventura.
