Lock Data in Rows or Columns in Numbers

I want to lock the data in certain cells. Particular an entire column at one time or and entire row at one time. It is not the same as freezing the headers or converting a row or column to a header. I want the information to move about as a normal spreadsheet but I don’t want the information in the row or column to be able to change without my permission.

Numbers doesn’t support locking individual cells, but you can lock an entire table instead. To do this, go to Arrange -> Lock, which will lock the selected table.

As a workaround to protect specific cells, you can draw a rectangle and set its opacity to 0, making it invisible. Place the rectangle over the cells you want to protect, then lock it by going to Arrange -> Lock. This way, the content in the cells remains visible, but the cells themselves can’t be selected or edited because the invisible rectangle blocks them.
