How can I change Thumbnail sizes in iPhone Albums and revert to iOS 17

I do not want my iPhone to decide which thumbnail to enlarge in an album! I want them all the same size! It makes it harder to search!

I do not want videos in an album to start by themselves! I want the one I want to start when I tell it to!

Albums are now listed with a tiny thumbnail and a huge white bar with the name. It’s so much harder to find the album I’m looking for!

I want to go back to iOS 17!!

There are a few settings you could try to change the layout of the photos:

See this page in the user Guide: It will tell you, how you can hide collections, change the order in which they are displayed, and pin the collections you are using most, in one place for easy access: Customize the Photos app on iPhone - Apple Support (BW)

As to the videos: To turn off the autoplay of Videos:

  1. Go to the Photos app  on your iPhone.
  2. Tap your account in the top-right corner.
  3. Turn Auto-Play Motion on or off.

By default, a preview of your best shots automatically plays at the top of the screen when you open collections and albums. You can turn automatic previewing on or off.

  1. Go to the Photos app  on your iPhone.
  2. Open a collection or album, then tap .
  3. Tap Hide Preview.
  4. To turn it back on, tap , then tap Show Preview.

To change the aspect ratio of the thumbnails, or to prevent the tiling, click the two arrows at the bottom of the display. See: Filter and sort the photo library on iPhone - Apple Support (BW)

In the menu that will open, tap "Aspect Ratio Grid". Now the photos will no longer be displayed in the tiled, curated collection, and you can see them in the correct aspect ratio, so you can tell which photo is in portrait mode or e landscape mode. This menu will also allow you to zoom in and out.

This option DOES NOT EXIST!

And why would anyone want the default to be a slide show of all videos and phots in an album with music?

Thats the default? And there is no obvious way to turn it off. I’ve already turned off “all motion events”. So why are motion events still playing?

How do I get rid of preview?

Why does Apple make users have to go and undo all of this?

Why in the world should I have to UNDO all of this? Why is the default this new stuff?

Are you seriously telling me to that I need to “learn the upgraded app” just to make it USABLE AGAIN? I’ve had iPhones for 12 years. I’ve used Apple computers since 1987, why should I have to spend MORE TIME to undo all of these unwanted features? How does this make the system better or easier?

What does Apple not understand about forcing features like this on us is not user friendly?

I met a 24yo man yesterday who does IT, and even he regretted updating and said the photos app was a mess.

I’ve gone to all of the normal places options should be, to turn them off but they apparently don’t work! I turned off motion events, yet I still get videos playing and slide shows.

The ability to remove the previews is not where Leone said it was.

So please tell me how I can turn off previews, automatically running videos, and musical slide shows?
