unable to delete photos that are imported from pc from my iphone

I used the windows app Apple Devices to import some photos to my iphone (ios18) from windows 11 pc, then wanted to add some to favourites/delete some, but there's no option to do that? Only options I have available are information, edit and share, but editing also doesn't work and if I try to a popup appears asking me to create a copy of the photo. And there's no option to create copies of all the imported photos, so is my only option to really manually copy all those photos?

Thank you for your answer! Sadly the app I used to import doesn't let me view the photos that are already on my iPhone (i don't use iCloud).

Thought I fixed my problem: to be able to delete/favourite/edit photos I made their copies in Files and from there downloaded them as images again, so I got two copies of each photo. To delete the view-only photos I used a 3rd party app EaseUS MobiMover on my PC. It offers to pay but deleting photos is free.

iMazing didn't work for deleting photos, but I will be using it for future photo transfers.

Pictures that arrive by connection to a computer are not fully owned by the Photos app. Photos can show them, but not delete them, and other operations are limited.

You choices are;

  • reconnect the computer and deal with them with the software you used to load them.
  • Use iCloud Photos -- sorry, I don't know much about that. You can see this:

Set up and use iCloud Photos on your Windows PC - Apple Support

  • There may be 3rd Party apps that will let you send pictures from Windows to an iPhone, like iMazing. (That's not an endorsement-- I didn't care for it on my Mac, but an app like that might be what you need.
