My Apple remote seems to be dead

I have had my remote on a charger for more than 24 hours. I looks dead. How do I replace it ?

It looks dead.

What makes you say that? The normal Siri Remote has no visible indicators for its current ‘health’.

  • Have you tried pairing the remote again?
  • Have you tried restarting just the remote?

I have had my remote on a charger for more than 24 hours.

30 minutes of charging should be enough (60%+ charged) for a functional remote for a while. 2.5–3 hours should be enough for near-depleted to 100% charged. The remote should be functional while charging. You can view the battery charge level in Settings.

If the battery in the remote is indeed the cause of your issue, then you may qualify for Apple’s Battery Service, and get a replacement battery or replacement remote for about half the cost of a new one, or zero extra cost if you have AppleCare+: Apple TV Repair and Service - Apple Support
