External Monitor Not Waking Up Properly with MacBook Pro M4 Pro (macOS 15.1/15.2)
I recently purchased a MacBook Pro M4 Pro running macOS 15.2 (the issue also occurred on 15.1). I’m using an MSI Optix AG321CQR monitor connected via HDMI using the MacBook’s built-in HDMI port.
When I wake the MacBook from sleep, the monitor doesn’t wake up. The MacBook detects the monitor and behaves as though it’s connected (e.g., I can move the cursor to the external display), but the monitor remains in standby mode, with its power light staying orange (it should turn white when active). If I fully power off and then restart the monitor, it works again as expected.
The monitor works perfectly when connected to a Windows desktop PC and an older Mac running macOS Mojave using the same HDMI cable.
I’ve tried enabling the HDMI CEC feature in the monitor’s settings. With this enabled, the monitor performs a cold restart whenever the Mac wakes from sleep, and it works after the restart. However, this solution is inconvenient and slow.
Apple, please address this issue. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
