Mac Os Big Sur Download

Hello !

I'm trying to download the operating system from the application store , i find it and it shows me in the information that the archive is 12gb and when i download it it is 15 mb only. i want to change the operating system on my computer is a macbook 2014 model . i try to make a usb to start the installation but it shows me an error on the terminal. Any help?
