How to stop Stock app on my MacBook Air keeps opening by itself?

No matter what I try, the Stocks App insists on opening in the background when I'm on my Mac. I can force quit, but it just comes back a little later. What's going on?

It's the Stocks APP, thanks. I didn't even know there was a StocksWidget. That seems to be open in Activity Monitor as well but doesn't appear in Force Quit list. Every time I restart, and usually when I wake the laptop up, Stocks reappears.

I'm old-fashioned. I don't use widgets.

Please provide a Screen Shot from Activity Monitor >> View >> View All processes

Make sure to capture the 1 - Stocks Application and 2 - Stocks Widget that appear in Activity Monitor

For additional measure >>

Go >> System Setting >> type " login items " in the search box

Does the Stock Application appear and listed to Start when the computer does

Respectfully, with this may computer issues

Perhaps this suggestion my or may not help

To avoid a session of Q&A, Q&A  and Q&A

Download the Application Etrecheck ( External Link ) directly from the Developer.

This is a Diagnostic Tool that makes no changes to the computer.

It makes a coherent and readable inventory of both the Hardware and Software used on the computer

The application is free or paid for added features.

The " Stocks " application is one of those few builtin applications

When the User ( you ), clicks the Red Button on the Streetlight of the application

The Stocks application will Closed Completely

The application, will not automatically Re-Launch itself without there being some type of expressed Interactions between the user and the application - full stop

Let's put it this way. Even if I close/quit the Stocks app, which I know is built-in, by the way, I've always been aware of that – when I restart the laptop, or whenever it goes to sleep and wakes up, the Stocks App appears in FQ. All I want is to find how to stop that, or perhaps even if it's possible.

thanks for trying anyway.

Have to ask if you please

The Stock Application or the Stock Widget ?

They are Not one and the same.

Add and customize widgets on Mac

The Widget may appear " To open Notification Center, click the date and time in the menu bar or swipe left with two fingers from the right edge of the trackpad. To close it, click anywhere on the desktop. "

You can also Remove the Widget

Remove widgets from the desktop

  1. On your Mac, click the wallpaper, then choose Edit Widgets.
  2. Click the Remove button  for the widget you want to remove.
