How to organize Photos on iPhone?

I don't use albums like "people and pets and trips" and cannot delete them. want a chronological grid of pictures and to sort them in my own way if at all. . I want it to sync from iPhone and show in actual order. Instead it shows one single unimportant screenshot from 2 weeks ago in Featured. Can't find a way to simplify it in Settings. I was able to actually see things as taken when I had an android phone, it just sorted by date and type (video, screenshot). Apple photos is making decisions for me I don't want and can't stop....HElp? I literally can't find what I created yesterday.

You listed a MacAir in your signature, but you refer to an iPhone. Do you have both?

There are big differences in the operating systems for phones and Macs-- which OSs are you using? You have more versatility if you do the organizing on a Mac and synchronize the devices with iCloud. Are you doing this?

On my Mac, I put my pictures in Albums to make finding specific events easier, and I sort them according to date captured. They are then synchronized with the phone and show in the same way. But you can do the same on the phone. I pay no attention to Featured, and in the newest OS, that can be turned off entirely.

Give us some more information, and we can probably help.
