Copy and Paste Trouble Error Code -50

Hello Guys and Gals -

I have two Mac Minis and I occasionally use a USB drive to paste files/folders onto them. The drive I was using without issue suddenly broke broke so I used another I had, but it's not working as planned. The files are mostly jpgs and when I try to copy them onto my Macs it starts normally, but then I get as it starts to copy:

this operation can't be complete because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50).

This happens on both Macs It only pastes the folder and none of the files. If I try to copy and paste jpgs from other folders, it works, just not these two specific folders. It also works on my desktop and notebook running Windows 10/11 and notebook running Linux Anyone have an idea what's going on here? Thanks for any help.
