Setting quota limit on Time Machine NAS

sudo tmutil setquota {ID} {SIZE_IN_GB}

You can determine the ID with

sudo tmutil destinationinfo

I found a solution on the boards when trying to figure out how to set a quota for Time Machine so it will delete the oldest back-ups when space gets limited after the fact. That thread was too old to reply to.

When I type in the first line I get two IDs. The first is the local back-up on the laptop and the second is the back-up on the NAS. I then type the NAS ID into the { } and it tells me No destination matching ID. Do I need to use the brackets or not?

I assume I need to do this on both computers that use the same volume on the NAS for back-ups, correct? I set a limit on the volume it backs up to on the NAS when I set it up, but it's now getting close to being full a year later. Thanks!
