Has anyone generated descriptive subtitles through AI? I need to add these to an existing film that has subs on most of it. There are loads of titling tools, but I can't see any that add the descriptions too. I will then edit for accuracy in FCP X and need to export out an SRT or VTT.

There was an accessibility session at the FCP Creative Summit with Ashley Eakin and Apple Studios producer Tatiana Lee. Ashley talked about descriptive captions for her productions but I don't recall her mentioning any tools.

FCP does not have an automatic caption generation function.
I will then edit for accuracy in FCP X and need to export out an SRT or VTT.
This is a technique that uses YouTube's subtitle generation function.
1. Upload the video to YouTube
2. YouTube Studio: Subtitles: Video selection: Options: Download
3. Select SRT/VTT format
4. Load the downloaded caption file into the FCP project
I am looking specifically for descriptive ones (used for hard of hearing).
AI captions are generated along with the audio, so they lack accuracy. AI isn't very smart.
I create SRT files in 12 languages one by one to explain my videos in multiple languages. This is because I think it is best to think of sentences with your own head without relying on AI.
Thank you! It’s interesting that it isn’t part of the offerings out there. I did see one plug in that seemed to be geared for it but didn’t want to be committed to an annual fee (happy to pay for a one-off).
