My Bank website requests my Safari version is updated to the latest version.
I have a Mac ID 9,1 with OS Monterey 12.7.6. There are no updates required for either Monterey or Safari.
However, my latest Safari version is 17.6
But the last version update on 24_11_24 was 17.4.1
2 questions. How can I have a higher version than released?
How do I correct the situation?

What kind of MacBook? Air?, Pro?, regular? 9,1 can refer to any of the 3.
12.7.6 is the last update for Monterrey, but depending on your exact type of Mac, you may be able to update to. newer macOS version such as Ventura, Sonoma or Sequoia with would include a newer version of Safari.

Yes a regular 2016 MacBook cannot update past Monterey. So you are at the end of the line with that Mac.
You can try a 3rd party browser such as Firefox or Brave if you need one that is newer and can be used with your Bank, but it is time to start considering a replacement Mac.
Seems I have the latest of the OS comparable with my Mac Book.. I know I upgraded over the years from Sierra originally.
