it doesn’t show how many emails. i missed tons of important emails on the first day. plus emails i sent out were hidden to others. My emails went into their promotion folder.

The 18.2 update has totally ruined email. It is making it impossible to know if I am seeing all my essential emails as it is categorizing them in a very confusing way. If I am travelling or at work without access to my desktop -I am definitely going to miss important emails. I hate this feature and cannot find a way to opt out of it.
iPhone has completely messed up my emails. If I try to move suspect to in box, it disappears completely nowhere to be found!!!
Go to your inbox press the three dots …….. then switch to list view
I HATE it too - it's awful and not something I want ! Please change it back Apple !!!!!

Promotions is just Apple playing catchup with Gmail, which has had it for a couple of years. Except in gmail you can’t turn it off, and Google inserts paid ads in it that you can’t delete without reading them.

No, you cannot go back but you can fix the problem. But, as it is a Yahoo account, you need to solve it with Yahoo.
Are you using the Yahoo app, or the Apple Mail app? And I’m not sure what you mean by showing in unread.

“they” (whoever you think “they” is) are never going to find a fix, because “they” don’t know what is the problem with “your” iPhone. You are the “they” in this situation. Yes, go into each email and change to list. 18 accounts later and my email icon shows the correct number of unread emails.
Would be better if Apple updates didn’t automatically change what we are used to. Just give us the option and instructions. We are adults, we can make our own educated choices.
all the Apple yes people talking about how wonderful this update is on this email category topic should shut their traps and let the adults talk.

Well, considering that nobody reads release notes, if Apple didn’t default to the new features in apps then no one would know about them.
Tap the List View button once and your problem is solved. It really is not that difficult. If you simply do not want to tap that button to return to List View and think it makes more sense to use another email client instead of changing to the previous List View, then you have plenty to choose from. Search "email" in the App Store and make your choice.

Possibly because Google thought it would be helpful when they rolled it out for gmail over a year ago.
It’s very disconcerting how Apple simply changes the UI to what they feel is in the interests of its users. Why not just leave settings as they are and allow the user to make the change(s) if they prefer? It’s getting tiresome.
Yup. All the emails that used to go to spam are now in primary. So now I’m getting 259 emails a day and have to sort through for the 4-5 important ones. Changing to list did nothing for me either. I just want it back like it was before. Thanks a lot Apple.

Have you tried showing the ‘Unread’ folder in the Folder list? Seems to show all unread items, regardless of the category they’re allocated to. Seems like a simple way of tracking the hundreds of important mails you missed.
