My emails are going to the promotions folder after iOS 18.2 update

What happened to my phone with the new IOS update 18.2? My emails are a mess. And I missed a very important email that was time sensitive. Who thought this was a good idea? And updates should be approved by the phone owner not because Apple thinks it’s a good idea. Can you imagine what so one older will go through finding emails in this new ridiculous update? What a disaster Apple!!!!! Out it back and fix it!!!!

Did you bother to read any of this thread before having this meltdown? No, I didn't think so. If you had, you might have discovered that, by tapping the three dots in the upper right corner, you can return to the list view.

Does no one experiment with settings and options?

I have read and tried all options. They don’t address the issue.

I cannot see emails I know have been sent to me in mail, they don’t appear in list view or any category. I didn’t see them in the app when they arrived - but I can see them when I access my account via web browser.

Yet if I search for the senders name in mail the email appears in the search result.

Have you considered the possibility that not everyone thinks it is in a “horrible way”? Your view of the world may not be shared with others. This is an example of Apple adding features that already exist on gmail, Samsung/Android, Microsoft and other mail providers.

As far as going to Samsung, no one here cares. There’s no point in making idle threats to the other users in this user-to-user forum. And I’ve noticed that people who threaten something rarely do it. Those who are going to just do it without threatening.

But if you would like to change the mail app to work the same way it used to work the instructions have been posted over and over and over in the thread you just added to without reading any of it.

Completely concur. New update is a long way from the Apple standard I've come to expect since I bought my first Mac. That was a while ago.

1) Bad auto-categorization.

2) The requirement to hand-jam corrections one by one to set proper categorizations.

3) The introduction of new graphics in the List view that are uninformative, don't match the categorization type (which would be useful), are apparently randomly similar across very different senders (why does The UnPopulist,a Substack on politics, and Sunday Afternoons, a hat store, have the same logo - a pair of suitcases?), take up way too much screen real estate on small screens.

4) Correct numbers of emails unread don't show in Mailboxes view even when you select List View rather than categories.

Come on Apple. You guys do this on a weekend?

Here's what you need:

1) bulk categorization, so I can read a day or two of emails in list view, select them, and categorize them correctly

2) either turn off the new logos to the left of the email preview, make them user selectable, or make them reflect categories in list view so I can skim for my priorities, my transactions, etc; right now they are a negative value add - they distract and make managing mail slower

3) Make list or category view a macro choice - not one that I need to address every time I go to a different mail box

4) have the number of unread mails visible for all categories

5) when you read in categories, and delete "an" email it actually deletes multiple emails - for many of my feeds I read and keep some, delete others... delete AN email is delete a SINGLE email, not a thread, or a set of emails from a common address...

No, but if you read the thread you just added to you can learn how to change the way mail is managed in this version.

That worked perfectly but you do need to do it for each mail account. My mail app now looks just like it did before 😁
