Bought Clean My Mac after purchasing new laptop, now Paddle refuses to cancel my renewal of Clean My Mac X

I recently bought a new MacBook Air and was prompted to (re)buy Clean My Mac, which I did. There are now two versions on my Launchpad. The old one says, "Clean My Mac X." I use the new one.

I got an email from Paddle that they would be renewing Clean My Mac X in three days. I replied that I just bought the new version of Clean My Mac and should not be charged for the renewal of an old subscription. I attached my receipt for the version I bought.

They will not respond to my actual question. Their follow-up email reiterated that I had a subscription renewal pending and that if I needed more help I should chat with their virtual assistant.

PayPal only shows the new subscription I bought.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

"Paddle acts as the primary payment processing partner for MacPaw, meaning when you purchase a MacPaw software like CleanMyMac, your payment is processed through Paddle's platform, making them the company responsible for handling the transaction and billing on behalf of MacPaw; essentially, Paddle is the payment gateway that MacPaw uses to sell its software online."

Thanks, HWTech and Bob the Fisherman. I'll check out your links. In the meantime, I have contacted MacPaw to cancel my duplicate subscription.

I completely agree with @BobTheFisherman to uninstall all copies of CMM by following the developer's instructions. Even then you may discover some remnants of CMM may still remain. CMM is one of the most notorious third party apps on this forum since it is always involved with issues people are having with their Macs.

Anti-virus software, cleaning/optimizer apps, and third party security software are not needed on a Mac. Plus they usually cause more problems than they solve because the interfere with the normal operation of macOS. I highly recommend everyone to review the following excellent article since it has great tips for keeping any computer/device running smoothly and to protect both the user & device from nefarious things.

Also, I never heard of "Paddle" associated with CMM. Did you actually purchase CMM from the App Store or the CMM developer? Or perhaps you purchased a version from a nefarious source?
