Smart script auto-refine handwriting produces wonky writing

Does anyone else find that smart script makes their handwriting slope upwards or downwards randomly rather than being in a straight line? I find it happens for no apparent reason and there is no pattern to it. Without warning, it will move part of a line of my handwriting in Apple notes above or below the line on which the rest of the content is written, or it will slope some words upwards or downwards at random.

Pound symbol / Hash sign (#) (Notes) grays out before space Within Notes… All of a sudden, my pound sign (#) is grayed out before I enter a space. And if I keep typing, it turns the hash sign and what comes after yellow. At first, it was changing to a #3 bullet when I pressed the space key. I checked “text replacement” but there was nothing there to indicate a replacement. With text replacement however, I entered to replace “#” with “#” and then I deleted it. This seemed to get rid of the #3 bullet, but now the hash sign is greyed out before I press the space key. It’s more of an annoyance as I can’t figure out how/why it changed.

using scribble with Notes app is too unpredictable. Has anybody figured out or found a reliable way to use scribble or the Apple pencil? 1) in the notes app the Apple Pencil randomly decides to start a new paragraph in the middle of a sentence. And there is no way to bring the cursor back to a previous line without opening the keyboard. 2) there is no way to start a new line, while writing this post. 3) placing the cursor in a specific location, is no guarantee scribble will continue from that specific location.
