apple pencil pro randomly cutting out

I am currently using the apple pencil pro with my iPad Air M2 2024 (124BG) with all software updates. I use it for taking notes at university and I have found that the pencil randomly cuts out. I am using OneNote but it also happens in Apple Notes too. I have tried taking the tip off and retightening it. On occasions before it cuts out it become very pressure sensitive without me changing any settings, then is stops writing all together. It will then randomly start working again. The pencil seems to be connected as the squeeze function still works to bring up the short cuts, it just will not draw. The amount of time it happens for also appear to be random. This also happens when the iPad is both on and off charge. I have tried resetting the iPad, forgetting the pencil and none of this seems to help. It has been on going for a week or more and drastically slows down my ability to take notes! Please let me know if anyone has any suggestions. I'm not impressed as this was an upgrade from my iPad 8th gen and apple pencil first generation, but now it appears that set up was better for taking notes quickly!
