HDMI Macbook Air Apple M1 8 GB bought in 2023

Hello, I have Macbook Air M1 8GB that is new in 2023.

I tried to connect HDMI. It does not work.

AI answers say if someone opens the setting, "HDMI" will show up on "Sound" section.

Whenever I connect the HDMI with TV on, the setting tap turns just gone. If I plug out the HDMI, the setting tap turns on back.

In addition to setting tap, the entire top line - "apple logo, finder,,, the top that shows the time and wifi signal" turns grey.

Why is it so? Is it because of the type of HDMI?

The M1 MacBook Air does not have a HDMI port. It supports one external display via DisplayPort or Thunderbolt, carried over USB-C.

You can get USB-C to HDMI adapters, and some hubs and docks have HDMI ports that use your computer’s DP or TB video signal.

What are you using to add a HDMI port? And are you trying to run the TV as a mirrored display or as an extended one? The answers may help someone figure out what is going on.
