Portamento effect on strings in MainStage

Hi,

I am looking for a way to create a string slide effect in MainStage using studio strings (or another patch if studio strings can't do this). The idea is to play the strings on my midi controller keyboard for most of the song, but I need to slide up and down between some notes, as an actual string player could do, creating a portmento effect.

I thought that I could do something like this using the logic remote to pitch slide up and down notes using the smart control keyboard, or even having a visual representation of the fretboard that I could slide up and down. I know that you can get this effect on the GarageBand app with various instruments, but is there a way to do this via the remote with MainStage patches?

Or can I set a portmento effect to glide up and down. The pitch setting doesn't seem to glide up and down on my mainstage patches, but I know that pitch bends do work... Setting the pitch bend range to a high number (i.e. 7) would give me the rise/fall to a 5th that I need but it would be tricky to bend to the 2nds and 3rd intervals I need as well in some of the phrases. Hopefully that made sense!

I know that there are glide up and down patches on studio strings, but as sometimes I want to slide up to a note or down to the same note, it'd be a really complicated set of split settings to create the patterns I need.

Many thanks for any help or advice!
