WhatsApp photos saved to Photos app despite 'save to camera roll' turned off

When I take photos within the Whatsapp chat (by using the video or photo button at the bottom of the chat, it saves that media to my Photos app in ‘Recents.’

i have no idea how to turn this off. I turned off ‘Save to Photos’

Media that I receive isn’t downloaded but that which I SEND is downloaded.

iPhone is not saving it in a separate ‘WhatsApp’ album so it is hard for me to delete and there is no filter to see only that data, either.

Any help please?
