Hint on changing POP to IMAP

Wanted to change from POP to IMAP on iPhone. Got to the screen under General/Apps/Mail where I delete my current email account and now click Add an Account, and type in my name, my email address, my password, and a simple description. Here’s the catch: If it goes and verifies then the next screen is one of the incoming server and it’s POP — defaults to what you had even though you deleted that account. So do not let it verify…turn off both WiFi and cellular, and when the screen attempts to verify it’ll try for a minute and report that the server isn’t responding, you click okay, and then IT MOVES on to the next screen which has the IMAP and POP choices — alleluia. Choose the IMAP, enter a couple of server names (imap.earthlink.net for me), and then hit save even though you’ve been warned it might not be able to connect. Turn back on both WiFi and cellular — and voila!
