SMS messages not syncing on my iPad.

I use my iPad for most of my messaging. I have a group thread with 3 people who have droids. All was fine until yesterday when any of those people replied I don’t get the reply box pop up to reply to them on my iPad, only on my iPhone does it work. I have rebooted both devices twice to no avail. Help!

If you have an iPhone - and both iPad and iPhone are signed-in to iCloud with the same AppleID - to send SMS/MMS messages (green bubbles) from your iPad you must explicitly enable Text Message Forwarding for your iPad on your iPhone...

On your iPhone:

Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding - set to ON - and explicitly enable your iPad from the list of devices.

Also ensure that Messages in iCloud is enabled on both your iPhone and iPad:

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > Messages - set to ON

Okay. With benefit of your clarification, I now have a much better understanding of the situation...

On both your iPad and iPhone, disable iCloud Messages - and then disable Text Message Forwarding on your iPhone:

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > Messages - set to OFF

Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding - set to OFF

Next, perform a forced-restart of your iPad and iPhone:

Force restart iPad - Apple Support

Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

After restarting both devices, re-enable Text Forwarding on the iPhone:

Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding - set to ON - and again explicitly enable your iPad from the list of devices.

Finally, re-enable iCloud Messages on both the iPad and iPhone:

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > Messages - set to ON
