So basically i recently got an iPad and every time i go to switch apps on my phone while having something open on my ipad it shows a bar at the bottom showing what im doing on my ipad. Is there a way to disable it?

Sure, it is a feature called Handoff that makes it easy to start a task and finish it on another device that uses the same Apple ID, but you can shut it off.
