Locked out of Iphone with 8 hrs lock out, and it does not give me the option to "forgot Passcode"

My son recently got a new phone, so I wiped his to give it to his under sister. I got it all set up, it transferred everything, her photos are even the background. But for some reason the passcode doesn't work, and now we are locked out. I will be bummed if we have to lose everything already on the phone, however willing to lose it if we can get back into it. I am just at a loss on how to move forward and make it not obsolete. Also it does NOT have any cellular service, she just uses it at home, the cellular service was transferred to his new phone.

It's an iphone 12 mini, if that makes a difference.
