Volume keys not working on a brand new 'magic' keyboard 2024

I just purchased a brand new 2024 Magic Keyboard with USB C and connected it to my Macbook Pro. Tried to listen to music and adjust the volume and the volume keys are not adjusting volume as expected. They are not doing anything or simply going to the end of the track list.

Tried going into settings and checking keyboard mapping and there is no option to map volume keys to volume.

How do I make the keyboard volume buttons actually adjust the volume? Thanks
