Word file attachments stripped in emails after Sequoia update

this has been happening fairly often since sequioa came out; the recipient either cannot open the attachment ie word file, or he opens it and it is blank

To troubleshoot this, you would need to indicate what email program you are using (Apple Mail, MS-Outlook, other ...). If MS-Outlook, this has been attributed to Outlook bugs in the past and now resolved with latest versions:

If you are using Apple Mail then make sure you don't have a button in the tool bar called 'Include Attachments' that is toggled off.
