how to reconnect dualshock4 controller to PS4

I did the big mistake of pairing my dualshock4 controller to our new appletv 4k and now the controller won’t connect to the PS4 anymore (It just blinks light blue). I’ve tried the only steps I could find on playstation and apple support with no luck, that is hard resetting the controller and plugging it with USB cable while switching off the appleTV…impossible to get the controller to connect.

I’d really appreciate if someone could share their trick to bring the controller back to life 🍀

I noticed first that Apple TV had priority on the device so had the Applet TV socket off the whole time I was trying to connect the controller back to ps4

Bluetooth accessories, including game controllers, can be paired to multiple devices, but can be connected to one device at a time. Be sure that it is not connected to Apple TV when trying to use it with PS4:

You may disconnect a supplemental bluetooth device from settings: Apple TV: Settings﹥Remotes and Devices﹥Bluetooth﹥ᴍʏ (ᴄᴏɴɴᴇᴄᴛᴇᴅ) ᴅᴇᴠɪᴄᴇs﹥[select controller accessory]﹥Disconnect Device
Having Apple TV in sleep mode should also be effective enough for this.

what seemed to work (I’m not 100% how it did the trick) was to reboot the PS4 in safe mode. It still didn’t recognize my controller even if connected by usb cable but when restarting the PS4 I was finally able to get the controller connected. After this experience I certainly won’t be connecting any of my dualshock 4 controllers to apple TV 4K. Seems like Apple and Sony should have a closer look at this
