I was in the process of cleaning up my mac when I noticed this file in documents called "harddisk.hdd.0 + loads of numbers & letters" taking up 132 GB's of space. What is it and is it safe to delete? I can't even figure out what it is? :)

No idea. First thoughts that come to mind is a benchmark test file that was not automatically deleted.
Anything in the Documents folder is put there either by you or by software you are running. Either way items in the Documents folder are controlled by you, so if you don't want it, then delete it.
