Recommended CD/DVD drive for MacBook Pro 2023

Can someone recommend the best CD/DVD drive for a MacBook Pro-2023. I have an old Apple SuperDrive, which doesn’t work and they don’t make them anymore.

Drives for OWC seem to get good reviews here. This is their listing:

Unless you need to travel with the optical drive, I highly recommend the Mercury Pro over the "Slim." The Mercury has an independent power source, replaceable power and data cabling should the cat chew on one, and is a tray-loader, generally more reliable than slot-loading drives.

Thanks. It’s just that they would seem to be too bulky to travel, etc.

Look at the Pioneer BDR-XD08S. It's USB 3.2 Gen 1, eminently portable, bus powered and you can also get an external a power supply if you want one (DCA-003) (also portable-sized). Compatible with CD, DVD, BD & M-Disc media. Personally, I do recommend the external power supply; burning disks takes almost all the power the USB bus can provide and if you have other bus-powered USB devices connected at the same time, none of them may work. Using the power supply eliminates that problem.

I have the predecessor model BDR-XD07S and it works like a breeze.

Is your apple superdrive not working or are you getting the error message that it needs power? If you're getting the power error message you probably bought a newer MAC and you might just need a different connector, Apple had me buy this one, which provides the superdrive with power and connects to my new MAC. USB-C to USB adapter, it's on their website, inexpensive.
