AppleTV Gen1 Can't Pass Privacy & Data Page

Hi folks,

I'd love some help with a weird one with a hospital AppleTV. After cycling power on what I think is a Gen1 Apple TV, I get the Data & Privacy notice with a prompt to continue.

I have a Gen1 remote, hitting any of the buttons doesn't allow me to accept and in turn do screen mirroring to watch some shows with the family. I'm limited because the AppleTV is on the hospital's internal WiFi, while I'm on the guest WiFi, so no using the remote app unfortunately.

Here's where things get strange though: when I hold down the Menu and Screen Share buttons, the AppleTV *does* reset, so there is a signal getting through. I've tried to pair the remote further by holding down Menu & Volume Up, even right on top of the AppleTV. No dice, or at least the AppleTV won't let me continue/connect to it.
