Unable to text/reply to messages

I have an iPhone 15. I have been using messages through Verizon and today I opened a message from my daughter and there was no space for me to reply. Could not scroll her message up to see if I’m just not moving down enough where we would usually respond. There is no keyboard. It’s as if the message just stops and goes nowhere. I tried tips but you have to word it just right or it will say no results. Anyone ever had this problem? I feel it is a simple fix and it is something I did in setting but I can’t figure out what it can be. Any help would be appreciated.
