My iPhone 16 Pro Max is charging over the set limit

This is normal and expected behavior. Apple notes this in several support articles.

The iPhone has to do this so it can calibrate to 100% battery capacity. It’s normal.

Apple Battery Charge Limit:

All is fine. The percentage is no more than a guestimation on the hardware's part. I've seen mine go above the 80% optimize limit.
