Can a borrowed iPhone sync data with old Apple ID?

Hi All

hope someone can give me an answer in the simplist terms

a friend gave me a FACTORY RESET old iphone to borrow (she has her own new addtional phone).

I then set up the phone using my own apple ID from my previous phone and used the phone fine.

question - i have been reading online that because the device was hers previous can or will the iclouds and or devices be merged - basically can either or have data/pictures sycned to each others clouds/devices.

i am pretty sure that because the phone given was factory reset before giving to me its impossible but wanted to ask

thanks

Once there is a factory reset, all of her data is gone from the device. She has it in her iCloud account, but you can't access that from your iCloud account. You are right... it's impossible. But that's a good thing from a privacy standpoint because anything else could be in her account, such as financial info. You have to love Apple for their privacy!

You mentioned -

I then set up the phone using my own apple ID from my previous phone and used the phone fine.

When new Apple ID is signed in the previously erased device the old iCloud data . may be photos will never sync in that iPhone .

However , her iCloud data is on iCloud server, but you must not ask her Apple ID password and account credentials Security and your Apple Account - Apple Support

Keep your Apple Account secure on iPhone - Apple Support

Note : the devices will only be merged when same Apple ID and password is signed between two devices see the article to share photos Create shared albums in Photos on iPhone - Apple Support

Ok great I thought as much. The things I was reading online was when people were borrowing someone’s iPhone non reset with all there pictures etc on there and then logging into there own iCloud causing a sync/ merger

am I right in saying because it was factory reset before being given To me and then me logging in as a new owner with my own apple ID account

as stated before it’s impossible for and pictures etc to be shared between our accounts as the factory reset would of wiped all of her data from the phone.
