Actual fullscreen in ParamountPlus, YouTube, etc. when using side-by-side windows

Is there a way to make the fullscreen button actually go fullscreen when I'm using 2 windows? I have 2 Google Chrome windows open side by side. If I try to fullscreen YouTube or Paramount Plus (haven't tested other apps yet), it only goes "full screen" on that half of the screen, which...isn't really "full" screen. Not sure why Apple designed it this way, I find this pretty annoying. Does anyone know a way to fix this issue?

You can't have a split screen and full screen at the same time. Doesn't make much logical sense. Just disable split screen.

Another option: is to add a second display to the Mac mini.

see > Connect a display to Mac mini - Apple Support

Then use one display for Chrome/Safari and the other display for Movies/Videos.

That's not what I mean. I mean if I have 2 windows side by side, and I click fullscreen on one of them, that video should cover my entire screen until I un-fullscreen and it goes back to being on the right hand side. This wasn't an issue with Windows.
