Apple Watch No Longer Updates

I have an Apple Watch SE (Second Generation), the display got smashed to bits. The display was replaced with a genuine SE Second Gen display. Subsequent to the screen replacement, my watch no longer updates. I am stuck on WatchOS 10.2 and when I attempt to update it just gives me the error “Unable to Verify Update The WatchOS update couldn't be verified because you are not connected to the Internet.” Even though I am connected to strong internet. I’ve tried updating to normal WatchOS versions and betas as well. Another issue after this is that I have also lost the ability to ping my phone and receive notifications on/from my watch. I’ve tried all the methods, hard restart, using data, different networks, unpairing and pairing again, factory resetting among other methods. Nothing has worked and I no longer have an idea of what’s happening or how to fix it.

More hardware being damaged besides the display doesn’t really sense because it was still fully functional with the old broken display. The display damage was more so just surface glass of the display and not the actual display components themselves, so even with the smashed display I could still technically use it. I ended up doing the replacement myself and everything inside of the watch looked untouched without damage. Could it possibly be that my watch refuses to do anything because it detects that it no longer has its factory display? I know apple really loves to serialize their components.

Based on the screen shot you posted, you’re attempting to install a beta. You can’t get help with beta software at all here.

In order to install the watchOS beta, you have to be running the ios beta, so you’re doubly out of luck.

That said, if the display was replaced by anyone other than Apple or an authorized service provider, the watch is completely unsupportable no matter what version of the os you’re running or want to run.

I was originally just trying to install the regular public ver of watchOS 11.2. Just thought I’d try a beta to see if anything would change. I suppose since I replaced the display myself I’m out of luck in terms of my watch ever returning to full functionality. I suppose I just have a regular old watch now.
