My back up disc won't back up

I have a back up disc with plenty of room, however every morning I get the same message, it's in French but translates as 'Back up not completed' - it does not say why

I have attached the details of the Back up dic and the message.

Very grateful for any help

TIA

Do you have Time Machine backing up every hour or just at night? In order to get a versioned backup where you can go back and get a particular version of a file at that time you need to have TM backup hourly. If you do that you can shut down you iMac at night. This will have the following additional benefit: a shutdown and reboot in the morning clears out temporary system and application cache and swap files. This will help the iMac to run more efficiently and clear out possibly damaged/corrupted cache or swap files. They can get damaged occasionally and can cause system or application problems.

With the current solid state systems and Macs rebooting will take less than a minute and should not an inconvenience.
