Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files and Folders > Music and make sure “Removable Volumes” is on.

Can you please clarify your issue. If you are trying to burn a cd, the music must already be on your computer. Are you trying to rip a CD? Are you getting an error messages?

Jim, Thanks for your reply. I apologise if I am not totally clear but this is what is happening -
I have a MacBook Pro running Sonoma 14.7 on which is all my music in the Music app.
I wish to add a commercially available/purchased CD via my Apple CD/DVD player.
Upon inserting the CD I see the track listings but who I click on download CD I get the following message -
"Error occurred when converting the file (name of first track). An unknown error occurred ( - 54)"
Any thoughts?

Jim, "Job Done" thank you it worked! I now have the album in Music and as a playlist which I can play in my car!
