Camera Roll folder missing on my iPhone

Opening Photos on my iPad or iPhone, there is no longer a folder with just the pictures taken by the camera that haven't been down/up loaded anywhere. Those pictures are now just intermingled with the library. True, one can open the camera and then open the most recent photo and then find photos there, but they are not in a folder that can be viewed properly like in the photos app. This type of folder used to be in the photos app but some "upgrade" must have decided I didn't want it. I do. Any idea how to get it back? Thanks.
