Try restarting the iPod touch.
If that doesn't work, try removing and reinstalling the Netflix application.24" iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.6)
Currently Being ModeratedAug 27, 2010 3:44 PM (in response to slimpickins66)I have the exact same problem. I have an Ipod Touch 64 gb. Running iOS4. Deleted and reinstalled the application twice now. I get the red netflix screen then I go to grey screen and nothing happens. All other applications run fine and I am connected to the internet fine.
Hope someone can help

The developer may have not tested the app for long enough you should just wait until they fix the mistakes in an update.24 inch imac, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

What worked for me on my 2nd gen Ipod touch was to set the time correctly. My clock was about 4 mins fast, after setting the clock on the touch to current time, the app worked.
Hope this helps.

Currently Being ModeratedAug 31, 2010 1:59 PM (in response to Apples are not oranges)A friend from work came up with this, but I forgot to ask him how he came across it. I think his Ipad was working then stopped and he didn't change anything and figured out the time was off.
If most people are having a time issue it makes sense that mostly ipod touchs' are affected, since the iphone should sync its time via cellular magic and the touchs' don't do this.
I guess the netflix app is doing some sort of authentication and the time being off causes it issues.
Glad someone found this information to be useful, pass it along.

Currently Being ModeratedSep 1, 2010 4:50 AM (in response to slimpickins66)Excellent! Changing the time manually allows netflix to work properly. Unfortunately, for some reason my ipod touch keeps automatically reverting back to the wrong time and netflix stops working. Then I reset the time and netflix works again. Any suggestions?ipod touch, iOS 4
