iMessage not working - number won’t activate

After changing mobile providers, my iMessage no longer works. On iMessage and FaceTime settings, I can select my number but it never stops with the spinning loading circle. When I look on iMessage settings, it says “waiting for activation”. My mobile provider don’t have any useful advice as to what to do.
