Apple Watch SE won't update its firmware

I have an Apple Watch SE (2nd gen) and it's stuck on watchOS 10.6.1. I have tried:

  • Rebooting the watch
  • Erasing the watch
  • Unpairing and repairing the watch
  • Selecting beta updates

Nothing works. Is there a nuclear option I can try?

Please don't send me to the usual Apple Watch update help page. It doesn't help. Please don't advise me to take it to an Apple Store as there are none near me.

Can you update the watch directly?

...

If your Apple Watch has watchOS 6 or later, you can install updates without your iPhone:

  1. Make sure that your watch is connected to Wi-Fi.
  2. On your watch, open the Settings app.
  3. Tap General > Software Update.
  4. Tap Install if a software update is available, then follow the onscreen instructions.

Leave your Apple Watch on its charger while the update completes, and don't restart your Apple Watch. When the update completes, your Apple Watch restarts on its own.

Only an Apple Watch SE 1st Gen. would not support watchOS 11
