Why Is My Lost iPhone Not Showing Location in iCloud, and What Happens After "Will Be Removed" Date?

Hello,

I need help understanding some issues with my stolen iPhone 16. I’ve activated Lost Mode via iCloud and ensured all necessary steps were taken (e.g., Find My iPhone was on, device locked, and a message displayed for the thief). However, I am encountering the following problems:

  1. Despite the phone being connected to the internet (as per notifications), it is not showing any location in iCloud. Why might this happen, and how can I fix it?
  2. My iCloud account shows a message saying, "Will be removed by January 16, 2025." Does this mean the device will no longer be linked to my iCloud account after this date? If so, can I extend this timeline?
  3. The device uses an eSIM, and cellular data was turned off before it was stolen. How could the thief have connected it to the internet?

The phone is barely a month old, purchased from an Apple Store, and I have the receipt. Any advice on recovering the device or preventing the thief from bypassing security would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help!
